The home inspection process is a visual inspection of the major building components and systems. Educated Home Inspections of New Jersey encourages clients to be active and present (although this is not mandatory) during the home inspection process. We also encourage our clients to present any questions or concerns they may have regarding the property being inspected. Fred enjoys answering questions and is very passionate about ensuring your home inspection accurately addresses areas of the property you feel require additional investigation.
What To Expect When We Inspect...
Based on your specific New Jersey Home Inspection needs, examples of our visual inspection will include the following systems and components:
- Foundation, Basement, and under-floor of the structure
- Exterior: Roofing, Siding, Trim, Windows, Walkways, Driveways, Retaining Walls, Drainage, Decks, and Trees or foliage that may impact the integrity of the structure.
- Visual Structural: Exposed Beams, Floor Joists, Rafters, Roof Decking, Columns, Fireplaces, and Chimney Exterior.
- Plumbing: Visable Waste, Supply Piping, Vent Piping, Main Water Line, Sump Pump, Water Heaters, and Drainage systems.
- Heating: Boilers, Furnaces, Duct Work, Radiators, Overall Heating System Condition, and any Electrical Heating components.
- Air Conditioning: Visible Condenser Cabinet, Evaporator System, Supply Lines, Service Disconnect, and Duct Work.
- Kitchen: Stove, Refrigerators, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, Supply Lines, Drainage, Cabinets, and Electrical Outlets.
- Bathrooms: Toilets, Bathtubs, Sinks, Faucets, Drains, Windows, Exhaust Fans, and Caulking.
- Laundry Area: Inspect visible plumbing connections, Identify Fuel Source, Check Venting, Test Laundry Basins, and Inspect Receptacles.
- Other Rooms: Living Room, Dining Room, Family Room, Electrical Outlets, Windows, Floors, Walls, Overall Condition.
- Attic: Insulation, Ventilation,Water Stains or Damage, and Leaks in visible areas.
- Electrical: Service Panels, Entry Cabinets, System Grounding, Sub Panels, Wire Routing and Installation where visible, Breakers, GFCI Outlets, Switches, and Lights.
- Garage: Overhead Doors, Automatic Door Openers, Electrical Outlets, Floor Structure and Condition, Installed Home Systems, and Water Fixtures.
Please note that some services provided by Educated Home Inspetions, such as oil tank inspections, water testing, septic inspections, and termite inspections may be arranged through third parties. Radon testing labs used are RA Data and Radiation Data.
